  • Participating in the Handstand Challenge through Chelsea’s Playbook app was super beneficial and loaded with support. The structure of the content offered in the app is easy to navigate and perfect to break into chunks if you need to squeeze in a few minutes here and there throughout the day. Each drill is explained thoroughly and the Facebook group community provided so much assistance, motivation and love! I came to the handstand challenge with a sturdy yoga practice and weak shoulders, which had always led me to practice ahimsa when faced with handstands. Throughout the 30 days, my shoulder strength increased and I appreciated the focus on alignment and technique which protected me from injury for sure. I LOVED sharing my progress on social media (which I didn’t think I would be comfortable with!) and now people are asking when the next challenge is.   • I’m not a yogi, let’s get that out of the way. These drills were great! I’m someone who always takes and posts handstand photos in front of cool locations - I’m known for it among my friends and family. But I always would just video my attempts and screen shot the moment that it looked like a hold. I’d take a few steps into it to get momentum and always fall back in a ball with both feet or fall over too like in my before video. Now you can see I can get up from a staggered downward dog stance, get a little hold and come down one leg at a time somewhat controlled. I will definitely continue handstand training now that I know how to work on them! -Jen

I'm Chelsea, and this is my story

Hi guys, I'm Chelsea! You might know me @chelseasyoga on Instagram. I’m a single mom of three kiddos and found yoga in 2014! I was never a gymnast, dancer, or competitive athlete but found myself deeply drawn to yoga after my first studio class. It created a sense of calm and quiet that my overly congested mind craved. I became certified to teach in April 2015 (RYT 200) and my passion for sharing my yoga journey and teaching others took over. I later earned my RYT 500 and now teach locally in Seattle and yoga retreats around the world. My mind and body craved the time on my mat and years later it is still my favorite outlet and has moved way beyond asana (the physical practice). Yoga can be whatever you want it to be and is for anyone. All it has ever asked of me is to show up and every time I do, I take what I need to grow and leave everything else on my mat.
